It no longer exists, the Volgograd freight-passenger landing stage, a favorite vacation spot for young people, the hero of numerous amateur photo shoots. The floating pier had a chance to enter the list of cultural heritage sites of the Soviet period. Renovated, it could be among the leaders of the local tourism industry. It did not come true …
The subject of admiration and controversy
The fire that lit up the Money Lake, which is near the farm Beavers (Sredneakhtubinsky district), where the gray-haired giant was living out his life, crossed all the plans. They were burned on July 26, 2013, along with the “subject of admiration and controversy.
It is no secret that among the local population there were also those who believed that the dilapidated landing stage was only for firewood. The source of fire has not yet been established: the poor fellow flared - the ends into the water. Well, remember the "old man." His "life" was not easy, but glorious, benevolent to people.
Volgograd landing stage descended from the stocks of the Gorodts shipyard of the Gorky Region (now Nizhny Novgorod) in 1954 (some people want to believe that the “grandfather” was over a hundred years old). The time stood in the courtyard when the Soviet Union consistently overcame the devastating effects of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
The people who endured a lot of grief were glad to build at any cost. Plants and factories grew everywhere, steamboats were built, and marinas multiplied. Cute “buoyants” on the Volga banks became a phenomenon so familiar that the older generation of residents of our country could not imagine that the time would come when there would be almost no convenient miniature river stations.
He remembered Alexei Maresyev
Meteors, Komets, Rocket (high-speed hydrofoil passenger ships) moored to the stations near the eternal waters of the Volga River and, of course, the pride of the river’s open spaces with history - motor ships. Volga was known as a highway with active traffic, almost independent of the time of day.
Peacefully swaying on the waves of the Kamyshinka River in the town of Kamyshin with the same name, the cargo and passenger landing stage honestly served the people. Old-timers still remember this typical wooden double-decked structure, characteristic of the pre-war and post-war period of the USSR.
Beautiful, albeit without any frills, cozy place for landing passengers was, it seems, the main site of the historic town in which the Hero of the Soviet Union was born and grew up, pilot Alexei Petrovich Maresyev and many other heroes of war and labor.
There is an opinion that it was on this pier that the Real man went in 1959, on his first visit to his small homeland, after at the age of 17 he went to build the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Here his countrymen met him with bread and salt.
From Kamyshinki to the Money Lake
The pier, resembling a ship-house, was extremely popular among the reeds: “station objects” at that time were used, in particular, as restaurants. Everything would be fine, but once it was time to change the “point of registry”.
In 1966, the landing stage was established at Denezhnoye Lake near Krasnoslobodsk. Overnight, the Sredne Akhtubinsky district of the Volgograd region became its refuge. "Traveler" became the rowing base of the sports society "Dynamo" (later VGAFK - Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture).
Has the tradition of holding youth parties in this picturesque corner of the Volgograd region gone from those sporting times? The attraction of the place was preserved even after the “old man” was empty, gradually plunging into oblivion. But these were already "aliens". Why did the owners go?
We decided to demolish
It's simple. Upon completion of construction work on the construction of a new bridge across the Volga (opened in October 2009), it turned out that the lake was growing shallow. The process of reducing the level of the reservoir led to the fact that the Volgograd landing stage was surrounded by trees and shrubs. The water approached him only in tap. What is this rowing base? Over the years, the overhauled facility has finally collapsed.
In 2013, at the very beginning of April, the balance holder (Volgograd Academy of Physical Culture) decided to disassemble the landing stage. According to the Rector of the All-Russian State Agrarian Academy Alexander Shamardin, the pier has decayed so much that there was no point in reconstructing it, which means that “the time has come to part”.
The motivation for the demolition was the fact that the three hectares of land occupied by the local landmark are costly. The sports ministry pays tax for virtually nothing. Many residents of the famous Stalingrad stronghold, including eminent ones, spoke out against liquidation.
They were convinced that the Volgograd landing stage cannot disappear without a trace. A small but very popular Einstein Museum (Volgograd) proposed to create an exhibition on the rare Volga River on a rare base. But the proposals remained unclaimed.
Analysis of the building began in late April. According to the guard, unknown persons drove the excavator and began to crush the facade. And then, as if the angel of heaven decided to close his long-suffering old pier with his wing. In a short time it was not possible to complete the case: a spill arrived, complicating the delivery of people and equipment allocated for the demolition.
Activists defenders used a hitch, built a raft, reached it to the landing stage and occupied the "all-round defense." Another part of the "fighters" collected signatures on a petition to rescue the perishing sights. There was a kind of "Battle of Stalingrad", with threats and attacks on the "garrison", pouring gas over the camp, followed by arson. Leader caring Daniel Angil went on a hunger strike. It seemed to him that this measure would speed up the decision of the authorities to preserve the unique object.
While the brave men and their supporters negotiated with the unique holder of the balance holder to “not finish off” the Volgograd landing stage, the most optimistic representatives of the “unmarketed fraternity” claimed that there were investors ready to revive the decaying history. The “culprit of the conflict" during this period was not protected by anyone except activists.
Nevertheless, everything was going perfectly: the landing stage was theoretically recognized as a cultural heritage object of regional significance. Before the actual (legal) recognition, he was separated by several steps, which the hero of the Volga shores could not “pass through” without protection. Firefighters arrived at the call of local residents, who sounded the alarm as soon as they saw clouds of black smoke over the tops of the trees at Denezhny.
They say there were no activists nearby at that moment. When they arrived, the jetty practically did not exist. Volgograd landing stage burned down.
