Yury Shutov: biography, personal life, family, books

The author of the acclaimed book "Sobchachye Heart" Yuri Titovich Shutov one seems to be a hero of our time, others consider him a villain and a criminal. A man was born in 1946, in the first spring month, and died in 2014. His hometown - Leningrad, later - St. Petersburg. All significant milestones in the criminal and political as well as the writing career of a man are associated with it. In the period of political activity he helped Sobchak, was elected to the Legislative Assembly. In 2006, he was given a life sentence.

How it all began

As you can learn from the biographies of Yuri Shutov, he appeared in the Leningrad family. Date of birth - March 16. The child first went to secondary school, after its completion he successfully entered the university, choosing for himself a shipbuilding institute in his hometown. Having received a diploma of education, the young man got a job in “Glavleningradstroy”. The beginning of the 80s in his life is marked by new heights and successes - he gets the opportunity to replace the manager in the instance responsible for statistics. The institution was engaged not only in Leningrad, but also in the area around it.

The boy was born in a family of front-line soldiers. Subsequently married. There is practically no information about personal life and relatives.

In the mid-80s he was accused of setting fire to Smolny. The official motive recognized the desire to destroy the documentation. In addition, the man was found guilty of large-scale thefts. The investigation was conducted under the direction of Kornilova. Guilt was successfully proven, the criminal was assigned five years of restriction of freedom.

Truth and freedom

For Yury Shutov, the prison at first meant an absolute cross on the future life. In Soviet times, with a previous conviction, it was almost impossible to find a decent job. True, to some extent, the man was lucky - a new era began, the rules and possibilities, and he was inherent in the ability to quickly navigate in what would later be called "muddy water." At first, Shutov was successfully rehabilitated, then they wrote material about him in Ogonyok, praising natural qualities. The material was called "Fire in the revolutionary headquarters." The article was published by Grigoriev.

To this day, many are wondering: the victim or the villain Yury Shutov? Who is he, what qualities were inherent to him? This information is still controversial today. So, if you believe the very material in “Spark”, the man was a true perestroika hero, who was condemned completely unfairly. As the author of the material considered, the officials with whom Shutov worked were caught stealing. In order not to be caught, they quickly put the blame on their relatively defenseless colleague.

Life and death hand in hand

Of course, this version, removing all the blame from the future author of the books - Yuri Shutov, was not to the taste of the investigator, who was responsible for the case. Wasting no time, Kornilov initiated a trial against Grigoriev. In the lawsuit, she formulated a claim as a biased transfer of information. Grigoriev, in turn, was going to get acquainted with the materials of the case about which he wrote the article. Some believe that he probably would have changed his mind about the national perestroika hero, but he just did not have time. Grigoriev was in the hotel "Leningrad" and became the victim of the tragedy that happened there.

The fire in the hotel "Leningrad" happened in the frosty February 91st. The fire began to spread from the seventh floor of the building, causing the death of 16 people, among whom was the author of a popular article in Ogonyok.

New years and tools

The dashing 90s began, giving the cultural capital of Russia the glory of the country's main criminal city. Yury Titovich Shutov did not waste time in vain - he estimated his chances of building a career in politics as more than good and immediately began to use them. At this time, he had the opportunity to participate in the "600 seconds" - a popular TV show, through which it was possible to appeal to the population of his native city. The activity of a promising novice politician was highlighted in the best way, so popularity began to grow. Anatoly Sobchak, who at that moment chaired the Lensovet, takes a man as an assistant. True, the career did not work out: in the near future, Shutov was dismissed, and in the order the inefficiency of work was entered as a reason.

There were a lot of assumptions about why Yury Titovich Shutov was left without work. Some said that it was he who made the agreement with the bankrupt English businessman. Supposedly, under the contract, he received exclusive rights in Leningrad, which at that time had the status of a specialized economic zone. Later in his book, the man will present a different version of events, explain what happened with political differences and differences in views on the conduct of business between the assistant and his immediate leader Sobchak.

New milestones - and the dark strip

As the media soon found out, the prison again threatened Yury Shutov with considerable force. At that time Gimranov, an Afghan officer who did not find himself in a peaceful life and had fallen into the criminal sphere, acted in Leningrad. The cavalier, presented to the Red Star award, as the investigation established, assembled his own gang - however, relatively small. When the investigation into their activities began, connections with the name Shutov appeared. The gang was arrested in the 92nd, and at the same time took all the participants. The main motive for the arrest was the destruction of property, extortion.

In '92, Yury Shutov was arrested along with a gang of an Afghan officer. He was not held in prison, they were allowed to sign a document about not leaving the place, they released him. In '96, a man was finally acquitted by declaring a set of evidence insufficient. Gimranov and part of his companions on illegal activity received insignificant terms. Many people right in the hall where the hearings were held were released, finding them innocent.

Life goes on

With the photo Yuri Shutov looks calm, he is confident in his abilities. Whether he has always been like this in his personal life - only his friends and relatives know, and not everyone wants to expand on this topic, and those who spoke to the press gave contradictory information. The public has much more accurate data regarding Shutov’s career and official appointments and punishments chosen for him at different times in his life. In particular, it is known that in '96 he had the opportunity to chair the regional and city commission organized by the State Duma. The task of the organization was to analyze the results of privatization. It was necessary to identify who is responsible for the failure of the program.

The commission gave Yury Shutov new opportunities and resources, it became clear that the battle for the likely and so close power was still not lost. In the 97th, Manevich, who was the city vice-governor, was killed. He was shot with a burst from a machine gun from the roof of one of the buildings near the Rubinstein and Nevsky intersection. At that moment, Shutov was already suspected as the organizer of the murder. For about two years, the man and all those with whom he spoke were carefully watched. Prosecutors also checked whether the politician had any relation to the murders of Filippov, Agarev.

Farewell to freedom!

Yury Shutov was finally arrested on the winter February day of the 99th. Materials collected on it amounted to 65 volumes. He had to spend under the supervision of 2 years and 5 months in anticipation of the investigation. Another 4 years and 5 months the case was considered by the court. These meetings aroused considerable interest in the press, since it was decided to organize them within the walls of the Krestovsky Insulator. However, as it is known from law enforcement agencies, several times Shutov was close to gaining the desired freedom. Moreover, he was and remains the only person in our history who, during his time in prison, not only tried to get into the city’s parliament, but also successfully won the elections.

The juicy details of the case of Yuri Shutov were taken up by the media for a long time. Of particular interest was the fact that in '99 politicians were arrested not by mere police officers, but by a group of SWAT. In November of that year, the Kalininsky court, which examined the documents on the case of the man, decided to acquit him, considering the materials insolvent, and immediately after that the seizure group took up the case. The city prosecutor's office was responsible for its organization, and Sydoruk, who held the post of chief prosecutor, gave orders.

How it all ended

The final verdict was made in February 2006 - not just imprisonment, but life imprisonment. Yury Shutov was found guilty of contract killings. The court found that behind his shoulders there are several attempted murders. Guilt was recognized in the abduction episodes. Law enforcement agencies have proved the involvement of men in organized criminal activities - it was when he was a member of an organized criminal group that he committed his unlawful acts. In addition to him, Denisov, Lagutkin, Gimranov, Nikolayev were imprisoned for life.

Accused and convicted, the man refused to admit his crimes. When he had the opportunity to sum up the results of the investigation, he explained the sentence as a result of his struggle with those who plundered their homeland, who steal from ordinary people. Shutov said that the responsibility for his unfair condemnation lies with the accomplices of thieves occupying prosecutorial posts, and sooner or later these people will get to him in order to kill him. The man was sent to the content in the "White Swan". In this institution in 2014, they recorded the death of Yuri Shutov. The reason was recognized as poor health. Of course, after the death, a service check was initiated, but the conditions of a single life sentence are such that all prisoners quickly deteriorate their health. In many ways, the psychological pressure associated with the awareness of life in the institution affects.

Hero or villain?

At the funeral of Yuri Titovich Shutov, there were many who were ready to call a man a real legend. We talked about his patriotism, honesty and sincerity. They recalled that in life he often reasoned, not thinking too much about the wording, and this not only did not please others, but also harmed them, and many of them were completely groundless. Some will then say that death was not accidental, that it was a manifestation of revenge, an act of fear - the prisoner's enemies were afraid that he would be released and begin to tell the truth. So it was or not - only Shutov himself knew, and he would not be able to tell anyone anything. However, although this legend of the 90s seems to be an innocent victim after decades, many intelligent people who remember the glory of Petersburg of those times are rightly questioning the legal purity of politics.

They said that Yury Shutov’s family was his organized criminal group, that his associates called him “father” and were afraid as fire. For the townsfolk, he, too, somewhat reminded his father - that is why certain individuals were ready to believe him, and even during his imprisonment in the “Crosses” a man could win the election. Previously assisting Sobchak, who worked in the Legislative Assembly in two convocations, was engaged in statistics, when it became clear that the conflict with the St. Petersburg mayor would not lead to good, Shutov published the book “Sobchachee Heart, or the Notes of the Assistant Who Went to Power”. Then they will say about him: this man lived very loudly and died just as quietly.

Lawyer recollections

Moskalenko, who defended Shutov in court, will remember more than once: her client warned that in prison he would die of illness, and urged not to believe this news. The cause of his death, as Shutov believed, would be very different factors. Then she will say that her client was very different from other familiar people. He was unique, and many considered him a terrible criminal, while others considered him a hero and a savior. Many believed and believe to this day that Shutov was defamed and slandered that he suffered for his courage and ability to say objectionable things to the authorities. His pamphlets on sharp political topics, his story and interviews turned out to be an extremely painful blow to the reputation of those in power.

The court session, the result of which was the conclusion until the end of his life, according to Moskalenko, was incorrect. The woman got acquainted with all the materials to which access appeared, and took a neutral side. Having decided that he will not support those who consider her client a terrible person, he will not agree with those who claim that he is a hero of his time. Then she will say that at some point she stopped thinking about whether the defendant committed unlawful acts. From the documentation that she saw, as Moskalenko would say, it followed that the actions incriminated to the court could not be proved, which means that the result of the hearings was illegal.

Truth and justice

Then Moskalenko admits that, being a lawyer of international level, she set for herself the primary task of understanding how fair the verdict was, how correctly the trial was organized. Special attention was drawn to compliance with the Convention on Human Rights. It was assumed that during the course of the case, the sixth article of this document, recognized by all European powers, was violated. Moskalenko and before faced with cases in which the violations were monstrous, the representatives of the law violated him. And yet, by the number of violations, the Shutov case was definitely in the lead.

The hearing was held in the absence of the defendant. In fact, the legal authority deprived a person of the opportunity to defend himself. Even before this, representatives of the European Court had repeatedly said that a global violation of human law cancels the conclusion of an instance in a case, no matter how justified and fair it may be. Moreover, they said that it is not necessary to consider all minor questions about violations separately, if there is a global one - and only one such is enough for the court to be called unfair. In the case of Shutov, the situation was explained as follows: that the man demanded the jury, which he was denied, for this he was removed from the territory where the debate was held until their completion.

Problems and solutions

Whether the Shutov was guilty or whether the sentence was rendered incorrect was difficult to judge. As a lawyer Shutova, Moskalenko repeatedly tried to meet with him. Then the woman will say that she was not allowed to work normally, to communicate with the client. There was always a barrier between her and her client, which excluded interaction with official papers.

After analyzing all the features of the case, Moskalenko sent an appeal to the European Court. She also asked to consider the case on a priority basis, and also participated in writing addenda to the original complaint. Then Moskalenko will say that she could only hope that the client will be able to survive successfully until the moment of studying the case. In 2014, it turned out that some unknown Shutev dossier was destroyed. It took a lot of time to restore documents. Later, after his death, Moskalenko will say that her client was an iron man. She will not judge whether he was right or not, but considers that the authorities have treated her client extremely unfairly. And more than once she will remember that this man, who preferred the old-fashioned forms of explanations, shortly before her death, asked her not to believe that he would die of diseases, and talked about different people who were given orders to end his life, but not one agreed
