Performing a military salutation: military rituals, differences in the performance of salutation

It is very interesting to watch the performance of the ritual of military greeting. Without it, today the armies of many states are not conceived. Naturally, the performance of military greetings is strictly regulated. It may also vary depending on the situation. Specifically, with this military ritual we will look into the article on the example of the Russian army.

What is it?

The military salutation is one of the embodiments of the comradely unity of the military personnel of a certain state, evidence of their mutual respect for each other, manifestation of education and courtesy.

When overtaking and meeting military personnel, it is imperative that military greetings be strictly complied with according to the rules established by the Stroyev charter of the Russian Armed forces. At the same time junior in rank, subordinates are the first to greet bosses who are senior in rank. If the servicemen are in equal ranks, then the most educated will give the first greeting.

For Russian military personnel, the performance of a military greeting is obligatory in order to give respect to:

  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
  • The mass graves of servicemen that gave their lives for their homeland.
  • The national flag of Russia.
  • Combat banner of his military unit As well as the Naval flag upon arrival / departure to the ship.
  • Funeral processions that are accompanied by military units.

In the ranks

When in service, performing a military salutation for units and subunits is also obligatory in such cases:

  • Greetings from the President of the Russian Federation.
  • Greetings of the Russian marshals, army generals, colonel generals and admirals and fleet admirals.
  • Greetings from all direct superiors, as well as to those appointed to direct the inspections (inspections) of the given military unit.
  • Greetings to those who came to the military unit for the presentation of the Battle of the flag and / or state awards.

How is the performance of military greetings in the ranks in front of these persons? The following algorithm is observed:

  1. The senior serviceman pronounces the following: "Attention! Look to the right (middle, left)!".
  2. Then he meets the above-mentioned persons and reports to them (for example): "Comrade Colonel-General, the 50th Tank Regiment for general regimental verification is built. The commander of the regiment is Colonel Ivanov."

If a military unit is built with the State flag or the Battle flag (parade, parade, swearing), then the report should mention the full name of the military unit (military unit), as well as the orders and honorary awards assigned to it.

In move

The fulfillment of the military salutation in the movement is necessary when the military units meet with each other. It is also performed, paying respect to:

  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
  • The common graves of military personnel who gave their lives for the Fatherland.
  • State Russian flag.
  • Combat banner of its own military units.
  • Naval flag on the ship during its descent and ascent.
  • Funeral processions that are accompanied by military units.

In the ranks on the spot

Now about the implementation of military greetings in the ranks on the spot. It is necessary in the following cases:

  • Greetings from the President of the Russian Federation.
  • Greetings from the chairman of the Russian government.
  • Greetings from the Minister of Defense.

When performing military greetings on the spot, the orchestra performs the Russian national anthem, as well as the composition "Counter March".

If the military unit welcomes its direct superior, as well as those sent to check this military unit, who arrived to present the state award or martial knowledge, then the musicians play only the "March".

Out of order

We continue to disassemble the military salute and the procedure for its implementation. When out of service (for example, during the passage of tasks or in his spare time from this activity), the military personnel greet their direct bosses on “At Peace” or “Stand Up”.

Headquarters will welcome only direct management, as well as those appointed to inspect the unit.

At meetings, in the classroom, where only officers are present, the comrades officers are used to greet commanders.

“At attention, ” “Comrade Officers, ” “Stand Up, ” says the eldest of the present chiefs or one of the servicemen who first saw the superior commander.

Further instruction implies the following:

  1. At this command, all those present must stand up and turn in the direction of the arrived chief, the commander.
  2. Soldiers take the rack. With the available headgear, they raise their right hand to it.
  3. The eldest of all those present must approach the commander and voice the report.
  4. Having accepted the report, the commander (military man-commander) submits one of two teams: “Comrades officers” or “Free”.
  5. The soldier who submitted the report must repeat this command for all those present.
  6. Then the servicemen take the command "at ease". From the headdress removed hand.
  7. The servicemen act further on the command of the arrived commander.

Performance of the National Anthem

When playing the National Anthem, the following orders are introduced:

  • Soldiers who are in the ranks, should without a team to take a front desk. In this case, the commander of the platoon (and above) must also attach to the headdress hand.
  • If military personnel are out of order, at the sounds of a hymn they must take a drill stand. When wearing a headdress to him you need to put your hand.

Special cases

Consider also the special cases characteristic of the Russian army:

  • Commands “Stand Up. Attention” and “Attention”, as well as a report to the chief, to the commander are sounded when he first visits a certain military unit or unit.
  • “At attention” to the commander of a warship is given each time he arrives on the ship, as well as leaving it.
  • In the presence of a senior officer for military greetings, the younger commander is not served. Report to him in this case is also not made.
  • In the case of conducting various classes, “Smirno”, “Comrades Officers”, “Stand Up. Attention” will be spoken at the beginning and at the end of these classes.
  • Commands "Stand up. Smirno", "Comrades officers", "Smirno" before the report to the senior soldier, the commander is served only in one case - when there are other soldiers. If there is only one speaker, he simply voices the report to the commander.
  • The implementation of a military greeting without weapons on the spot is not necessary for conferences, ceremonial events in a military unit, as well as when the unit visits concerts, performances, cultural events.
  • When a superior or a senior officer applies to other servicemen, the following is observed: they (the exception here is only the sick, the wounded) make a front stand. Speak their position, as well as the title and surname.
  • When shaking hands, the senior officer gives the hand first. If he is wearing gloves, he pre-removes this accessory from his right hand. Soldiers without a cap, hats at the same time should accompany the greeting with an inclination of the head.
  • To the greeting of the commander, senior in rank, "Hello comrades, " all military personnel (both in and outside the ranks) must answer: "We wish you good health." A "friend" and the rank of commander are added (without prefixes such as "justice", "medical service").
  • If the commander, the senior is forgiven ("Good-bye, comrades"), then all the servicemen present answer him "Good-bye." Also added "friend" + title without prefixes.
  • If the commander thanks or congratulates the soldier in the service, the latter replies "I serve Russia."
  • If the commander congratulates the military unit that is in the ranks, it responds to him with a three-time draw "Hurray." If he thanks the servicemen, they respond "We serve Russia".

Command is not served

The fulfillment of the military greeting in the ranks, in the movement, outside the system is not always carried out. There are several cases where it is not required:

  • With the rise of military units in the alarm, on the marches, on exercises and a variety of tactical exercises.
  • At communication centers, command and control centers, in places of combat service (or duty).
  • At the starting firing position, at the firing line during launching, as well as firing.
  • During the flight at military airfields.
  • In continuation of the work and classes in hangars, workshops, parks, laboratories. And also when performing similar work with educational purposes.
  • During games and sports.
  • When soldiers receive food.
  • After the command "End" and before the command "Rise".
  • In rooms for patients.

Making a military salute without a weapon is not necessary here. In these cases, the following happens: the senior soldier reports to the arriving boss. For example: "Comrade Major! The third motorized rifle division performs the first exercise in shooting practice. The division commander Petrov."

If the unit is involved in a funeral procession, it also does not fulfill the greeting.

The military greeting is a special ritual for important occasions. It has its own characteristics in different situations. There are cases when his work is not required.
