The press, radio, and television conduct regular work with a large audience, delivering sound, visual, and verbal notifications to it. In Russian, the term "media" appeared in the 70s of the 20th century, before it existed the concept of "QMS" (the media). The modern name is mass media. This is a system consisting of many channels: books, newspapers, almanacs, magazines, brochures, television and radio programs, Internet sites.
The oldest institutions of mass media are newspapers, books, magazines, almanacs, and weeklies. The product coming out of print carries the original data in the form of literal text. Also it can be drawings, schemes, posters, graphics, photos. The reader can independently perceive this information, he does not need for this auxiliary technical means, such as a radio, television or computer. Printed publications are important repositories of information. With the help of typography, people got the opportunity to express their most audacious thoughts. Here it is appropriate to cite as an example the myth of Ancient Greece about King Cadmus. This lord managed to sow dragon's teeth. In the place of their germination warriors appeared with weapons. In this myth, a kind of allegory with the alphabet is carried out: the word is able to conquer aptly and quickly, like a weapon. Many political leaders were able to expand their power thanks to the printed word. It was the print edition that made the “civilized” person.
To date, the press in the question of efficiency is a little losing electronic mass media. This is due to the fact that the preparation of print runs, numbers, their delivery requires a lot of time. Journalists consider “bad news” as “real news”, that is, they need to give a bit of negative mood. Therefore, the press can be considered a completely constructed thing.
In the modern world, the media forms the opinion of a society for a particular event. Sometimes mass media is entertaining, not informative. Today, the audience is very influenced by the ways of presenting information, because everyone has the opportunity to express their vision of what is happening. Due to this, the feedback system is actively developing. Often the media mechanism is used by advertisers to distribute advertisements. Sometimes the media can be attributed to the movie.
Mass media features
The main feature of the media is the frequency, the news should go out at least once a day. The next distinctive feature is the mass, they are designed for a large audience. Another important factor is compulsion, when one listener has many listeners. Here are the main activities of the mass media:

Russian mass media
Russia has its own distinctive features that define the media. Any publication must necessarily have a mass character and come out with a circulation of at least 1000 copies. Domestic newspapers, magazines, newsletters should go out periodically, that is, at least once a year. Publication must differ in compulsion: for many listeners, information must come from one source.
Russian media must be recorded in Roskomnadzor. Printed publications must be transferred to the library, where they store a whole year. Massmedia is protected by rights and guarantees. All attempts at censorship are also prohibited.
Each edition has its own ways of transmitting the original data and presenting it to the public. Today in Russia there are 23 television channels that are intended for the whole country. In addition to these main channels, 117 cable and satellite lines are broadcast, 15 of them are broadcast outside Russia.
In some areas of the country have their own broadcast programs. In general, throughout the territory of Russia more than 3000 TV channels are broadcast.
The most common Russian mass media are newspapers and magazines. On average, over 27, 000 newspapers and weeklies, over 20, 000 magazines, and about 800 almanacs are registered in the country. In the major cities of Russia, almost 12% of the population rereads the daily press. Much more readers are interested in magazines, over 60%. Informational TV shows are the most popular.
Internet position in the media
Today, the Internet has become the most common source of information among the younger generation. Internet pages are full of the latest news in various areas of human activity, from the most remote corners of the planet. Online media is the most modern and convenient media. What only sites here you will not meet! This is very convenient, because at any time unchecked information can be replaced.
The Internet is constantly being improved, the Internet media are changing, attracting an ever wider audience. Many traditional mass media have their own websites on the Internet, which include advertising.
